Improve Your Health At 'The Shape Up America' Fitness Expo

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Fitness Expert Mike Torcia stopped by KCAL9 Monday to talk about the upcoming Shape Up America Free Health & Fitness Expo.

The event is coming up on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at The Grove.

The expo includes free health screenings, fitness demonstrations for children and adults, nutrition lectures, motivational speakers, life coaching, healthy cooking demonstrations/healthy shopping tips, athletic competitions, strength challenges, dance performances, martial arts classes, bullying prevention lectures and free product giveaways.

Obstacle course challenges for the kids and adults will be offered, along with a variety of information and products for pet owners and animal lovers alike.

Torchia has recently launched the Shape Up America Campaign 30-city tour, designed to motivate people across the country to increase daily physical activity and healthy eating by showing them how to make exercise fun, and choose better foods.

This campaign targets all segments of our communities including schools, city government, civic organizations, community groups, businesses, and other people who live, work and play in America.

Now, through the development of the Shape Up America Campaign, Holistic Health Foundation, and Children's Fitness Academy, and with the success of Operation Fitness™, Torchia intends to use this incredible opportunity to reach children and adults across the nation, helping them achieve a more positive self-worth and body image.
