Woman Airlifted From Catalina Island After Going Into Early Labor
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A woman in her 20s had to be airlifted by the U.S. Coast Guard after going into early labor on Catalina Island.
The Coast Guard says a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter airlifted the woman -- who was facing possible life-threatening birth complications -- to Long Beach Airport about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release.
From there, she was rushed via ground ambulance to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, which was the initial destination before her water broke mid-air.
No information was currently available on the mother or baby's condition.
