MARINA DEL REY (CBS) — A 55-foot vessel ran aground just north of Marina del Rey in dense fog, but no one was injured, a sheriff’s sergeant said Sunday.

The boat ran aground on the beach just north of the breakwater about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Michael Mitchell of the sheriff’s Marina del Rey station said. The marine layer was so dense at the time, mist was wetting the coastal area.

Mitchell said the damaged boat was towed back into deep water and into the marina.

Four people returning from a fishing trip were aboard, none of which were injured.
