Teen Pleads No Contest In Shooting Death Of Wilson High Honor Student
LONG BEACH (KNX1070) — A 17-year-old boy has entered a no contest plea in connection with the shooting death of a Long Beach honor student.
Melody Ross, 16, was struck and killed by a stray bullet when a fight broke out between rival gang members following a Wilson High School homecoming football game in 2009.
KNX 1070's Kim Marriner reports that 17-year-old Daivion Davis is expected to receive 8 years and four months in juvenile custody after entering his no contest plea to manslaughter and attempted murder.

The alleged triggerman, identified as 18-year-old Tom Love Vinson, is scheduled to go on trial Monday as an adult. He was 16 at the time of the crime.
Vinson, who is charged with murder and four counts of attempted murder, faces 210 years in prison, if convicted.
In addition to Ross' death, two other young men were wounded in the shooting.
