Eovaldi Wins Major League Debut, LA Beats AZ

PHOENIX (CBS/AP)— Nathan Eovaldi pitched five solid innings in his major league debut and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 Saturday night.

Eovaldi (1-0), who pitched in the Double-A Southern League All-Star game in late June, allowed two runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked two.

Scott Elbert pitched the ninth for his second save.

Rod Barajas has three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Dodgers, who have won four of five.

Joe Saunders (8-9) had two hits and drove in two runs.

SS Dee Gordon left the game early during the bottom of the third inning after injuring his right shoulder trying to chase down Kelly Johnson in a rundown. He is day-to-day.
