Comedians Rally To Get Jerry Lewis’ MDA Telethon Job Back

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jerry Lewis’ separation from the Muscular Dystrophy Association is not a laughing matter for some comedians.

Paul Rodriguez, Larry Miller, Tom Dreesen, Norm Crosby and others have joined in support of Lewis, the 85-year-old comedian who the MDA says is no longer its national chairman and will not appear on this year’s telethon.

The funnymen told reporters gathered at The Laugh Factory comedy club Friday in Hollywood that they want the MDA to feature Lewis on the upcoming telethon.

Rodriguez says Lewis should be brought back in a limo and given the accolades that he deserves.

The group says they hadn’t spoken with Lewis since the separation was announced but Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada said they supported him regardless of why he was dismissed.

Jerry Lewis movies were funny! I grew up seeing The Bell Boy, The Nutty Professor and many others including those with Dean Martin — all great. However, after 50 years of telethons and billions of dollars raised, the MDA still has no cure for muscular dystrophy. When I was 10 years old, they were saying we are close, that was 45 years ago. Maybe they have chimps working on it? As with cancer and other diseases, there are cures — but they don’t want one, there’s too much money made. The first promising sign of a cure and it is discredited or banned from the country. Doctors would lose their license to practice if they were to promote such cures. Many have been. So their Clinics are moved to other countries because they actually want to heal people. For instance, ESSIAC is a natural cure for cancer that can be purchased in Canada but it’s banned in the USA. Many illnesses and diseases can be cured naturally. Vitamin D3 was lowered to 400 iu back in the 1920’s because people were taking 10x that amount and being cured of many illnesses and hospitals were emptying. Well, they couldn’t have that. We actually need 4,000 iu = 40 mg daily. But no, they want to keep people sick so they can make money, money, money. Jerry made 10% of what he pulled in during the telethons. $5 million plus is a good days wages!
So, honor him for his comedy but to honor him for his efforts with MDA — it’s a disgrace. If he did it for nothing, then that would have been honorable.
The whole country is falling apart because of the love of money and greed!

I will snub the MDA EXACTLY the way they snubbed Mr. Lewis if they don’t bring him back! I will no longer donate money, AND I will no longer WATCH it on TV! How DARE THEY pull such a stunt on a man that has done soooooo much for them?

what a slap in the face to Mr. Lewis who is the face for Muscular dystrophy charity events not just the teletthon…….I am sick to my stomach over the ungrateful snub the MD association to taking to Mr. Lewis. Raise money MD – not this labour day thanks to your nasty, unprofessional manner in which you have treated Mr. Lewis. Mr. Lewis Iwish you good health and rest – you r and always will be a super hero to millions and just not in the MD family – retire in grace because you earned it!

I am very saddened at what the MDA Association has done to Jerry Lewis. He has dedicated 45 years of hard work, devotion and commitment to a cause that has been dear to his heart. He has made a positive difference in the lives of so many people. I am hoping that The MDA association will re evaluate how they are handling this matter and allow Jerry to return to the telethon and receive the recognition he so richly deserves. I wish Jerry continued health , I have admired him for so many years, he sure has been my special hero. Jerry remember there are millions of people who will always support you, retire in grace, you sure do deserve it.
