2 Inmates Still At Large Following Escape From Work Crew

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Police are still trying to track down 2 prison inmates, who escaped from a work crew in North Hollywood Friday.

According to authorities, teams from Sacramento and Los Angeles have teamed up to look for the suspects. Details of the locations of the search were not revealed, however.

The suspects were assigned to a work detail from the Ventura Fire Camp clearing away brush along Mulholland just about west of Laurel Canyon when the pair vanished late Friday morning.

The first inmate, incarcerated for second-degree robbery, is identified by authorities as 18-year-old Pablo Ladislow Ontaneda. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds, according to police.

The other is 19-year-old Christopher Ochoa. He is 5'4 and weighs 126 pounds. His offense is second-degree robbery and the use of a firearm.

Melissa McCarty, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said the pair are classified as nonviolent offenders.
