Security Tape Shows Store Incident, But Not Former NFL Player's Killing By Deputy

BAKERSFIELD (AP) — A security video taken the night a former NFL player was killed by Kern County sheriff's deputies shows him buying two beers and walking out of the store, but stops short of the shooting.

But the attorney for David Lee Turner's family is demanding answers, saying a deputy's search warrant states that he viewed "the entire incident" on tape. Lawyer Gerson Horn says a gap should not exist.

A sheriff's spokesman says the warrant wording meant the incident was captured but not every detail.

The deputy shot Turner on July 10, after he allegedly hit another deputy with a bag of beer. Authorities had been investigating a report that minors asked adults to buy alcohol.

Sheriff's officials determined the shooting was within department policy.

Turner played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1978 to 1980.
