Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run That Killed Pregnant Woman In Victorville

VICTORVILLE (CBS) — Authorities Thursday announced the arrest of a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child in Victorville.

Officials say Brandon Lee McCullough was the driver of the 2000 Ford F-250 truck that struck and killed Dejuan Smith, 20.

Smith was five months pregnant. A 17-month-old daughter she was pushing in a stroller was injured but treated for her injuries and returned to her father.

McCullough was booked into the San Bernardino County Jail.

He faces charges of  hit-and-run causing death and vehicular manslaughter.

Officials say McCullough's truck has damage on the front ride side.

They also said evidence left at the scene ties him to the accident. It is believed the passenger side mirror is part of the evidence police used to link the truck to the fatal accident.
