Buena Park Officer, 31, Dies Following Training Exercise

BUENA PARK (AP) — A 31-year-old Buena Park police officer has died, a day after being rushed to the hospital during a training exercise.

Lt. Gary Worrall says the officer, Daniel Ackerman, was participating in a semi-annual fitness exercise when he showed signs of exertion Friday.

Ackerman was treated at the scene and then hospitalized in critical condition. He died early Saturday.

Ackerman, a resident of Buena Park, became a police explorer in 1995 and reserve officer in 2001. He was hired as a full-time officer in 2005.

He is survived by his mother, sister and a daughter.

Worrall says an autopsy is planned and the Orange County Coroner will investigate the cause of Ackerman’s death.

what are they doing during training these days that is killin so many officers damn this is like the 4th one i think in recent months if it is a result of the actual training and not a physical issue with the officer them self maybe they need to rethink the training
