OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens Sued By Convicted Drug Dealer
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A convicted drug dealer filed a suit Thursday against Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens and five deputies in federal court.
Derek Salazar was allegedly beaten by the deputies on November 2, 2009 while he was awaiting trial on drug charges, his attorney Richard Herman said.
Salazar pleaded guilty November 17, 2009, to sale or transport of a controlled substance, a felony, and was sentenced to two years in state prison, according to court records.
He alleges his constitutional rights to due process and equal protection were violated by the beating.
