Armed FBI Impersonators Flee Burbank Home With $20K, Jewelry

BURBANK (CBS) — Three men armed with a least one weapon and carrying fake FBI badges broke into a home and stole a briefcase filled with cash, police said Wednesday.

The suspects reportedly forced their way into a small home just south of De Bell Golf Course on Fairmont Road shortly after midnight.

The men roughed up at least one of the residents and apparently fled with a briefcase carrying $20,000 in cash, a purse and some jewelry.

KNX 1070’s John Brooks reports the incident has left neighbors on this close-knit street rattled.

“I’m horrified….I mean, this is a quiet neighborhood,” said one resident. “This shocking, really shocking.”

Residents said a husband and wife in their 50s live in the home with their two college-age sons.

Ah.. Yes, Police… I’d like to report a stolen briefcase of $20,000 cash… And 6 kilogram bricks of cocaine. No.. no… just the cash and the cocaine. No meth or guns or jewelry. Yes, yes they were FBI agents that had been following me for sometime…. No I don’t think they were impersonating officers… Why would I think they were impersonating officers?… Well whatever, if you say so… .Look just give me a call if you can get my cash and cocaine back Ok?, Thank You

What was she doing with all that cash and jewelry at home? That was an inside job. Check with and and
The police should check the teeager, all the relatives and close friends. They will find it easily.

The “FBI Impersonators” knew the cash was there, and why, and guaranteed they had prior dealings with the “victim”. Yes, I always keep a briefcase of $20,000 in my Living room too. Right on the coffee table. It’s a conversation piece, over tea and crumpets – especially when my friends from Nigeria come to pay me a visit to deliver the money I inherited (per their email to me – honest).

So, when do the “victims” give up the real story – and why weren’t they armed?

      LOL!!! So true.

The neighbors should be more worried about the shady victims then then the robbery.

After all the bank failures – it is actually not all the strange that people might keep more cash on hand. Although it is still stupid. My boss lost about $8,000 in cash that he had is his dresser, he was robbed by gang bangers a carpet installation company let into his house. (the company claimed it installers where all bonded and licensed, but they actually just picked up guys off the street to work..)

ya thats why when i get the telemarketing construction companies calling for “free estimates ” they get hung up on – dont know how many time law enforcement has to warn us about these people b4 we get the hint…

Briefcase filled with $20k just happened to be laying around in the home that these FBI impersonators just happened to select as their next target. #1 it’s an inside deal. #2 the cops need to investigate why the person had $20k stashed in a briefcase. Hell, I wish I knew someone with $20k laying around so I can save my home!

Sucks that the “victim” is probably even shadier than the robbers. And it sucks that hard-working people are struggling every day just to keep $100 in their wallet. .

I agree. I hardly get $10.00 to go to 99 cent only store to get some food on the table. Tis was an iside job as as said, the police should find out how these people got those $20000. besides, they should check with friends and relatives, and likely they will find the money.

I can hardly wait to see how this plays out in the next few days. This smacks of criminals targeting criminals.
