Police Probe Violent Home Invasion In South El Monte

SOUTH EL MONTE (CBS) — An investigation is underway into a violent home invasion robbery in South El Monte that left a 50-year-old woman beaten and robbed.

Jeff Nguyen, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, spoke with the victim's husband who says his wife was punched several times after she opened the door to their home in the 1200 block of Lerma Road on Friday evening.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his 20s, is described as about 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a black jacket.

The victim's husband says the violent robbery comes about a year and a half after their home was burglarized while they were on vacation. But this time around, his wife's wedding ring was taken, along with a necklace he had given her when they were dating.

The victim was hospitalized but has since been released.
