The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m., took place in the 1400 block of Tahiti Way.

According to investigators, that's where a man approached a 44-year-old woman, demanding her purse. After she handed it over and tried to run away, the woman was shot in the back.

"She was laying there and she said 'call the paramedics… I've been shot, help, call the paramedics,'" one witness said.

Sheriff's deputies say the suspect took off in a white Mercedes.

The woman is expected to make a full recover from her wound.

Meantime, residents at the upscale apartment complex say they cannot believe something like this happened.

"I've lived here since December. I mean, I've picked this place because it's so residential," a resident said.
