Winnetka Man Pleads No Contest To 2 Attempted Murder Charges In Rose Bowl Football Game Brawl
PASADENA (CBS) — A Winnetka man charged in a wild brawl that ended with stabbings outside the Rose Bowl before a USC-UCLA football game pleaded no contest Thursday to two attempted murder charges.
Anthony Richard Cisneros, 23, is facing 15 years and four months in state prison at his sentencing Aug. 29 before Pasadena Superior Court Judge Janice Croft, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The Dec. 4, 2010 fight was reportedly triggered by an errant football that hit a Mercedes-Benz. Two men -- Joshua Dirling, a Cal State Fullerton student, and Vimal Patel -- suffered stab wounds in the melee. Cisneros admitted using a knife to stab one of the victims.
Two of Cisneros' older siblings were also charged in connection with the fight. Arthur Joseph Cisneros, 26, was ordered to serve one year in county jail and three years probation after pleading no contest in May to an assault charge; Akira Sheree Cisneros, 24, was sentenced to three years probation and 40 hours of community service after pleading no contest in December to a misdemeanor battery count.
