Palm Springs Mayor To Run For Re-Election

PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet announced Thursday he will run for re-election in November 2012.

He has been the city’s mayor since 2007 and told friends and supporters at a Palm Springs hotel that he will seek another term.

“Thanks to your passion, hard work and tenacity, Palm Springs has continued to survive and even thrive in spite of a tough national economy, but we have much work to do,” he said, adding that he was “ready to build on the successes of my first term” as mayor.

Pougnet is holding a campaign kickoff event Thursday night at Spencer’s restaurant to focus on city issues.
