CHP Asking For Witnesses Who Saw Man Allegedly Set His Wife On Fire

SANTA ANA (CBS) — The CHP Thursday was asking for the public’s help in helping put together the pieces of what they are calling a horrific crime.

They’re asking for possible witnesses to come forward in the case of a Santa Ana man who allegedly tried to kill his wife while the couple was driving on the freeway.

Officials say Constantino Monterrosas was driving on the Southbound 15 in Corona when he doused his wife with gasoline and set her on fire.

Monterrosas and his wife were driving in a 2002 Chevrolet S-10.

Authorities say the couple was in the middle lane of traffic just north of Temescal Canyon Road when the incident occurred.

Police said the victim was able to undo her seat belt and jump from the speeding vehicle.

The victim was not hit by another vehicle and she is expected to survive.

Authorities are asking any motorists who witnessed the incident to call the CHP’s Riverside office.
