Parolee Charged In High-Speed 2-County Freeway Chase
SAN FERNANDO (CBS) — A parolee accused of leading authorities on a wild, high-speed pursuit through two counties pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one felony count of evading police.
The chase, which began around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodland Hills, ended some four hours later near Castaic and hit almost every freeway, according to authorities.
The suspect, identified by authorities as 30-year-old Michael Andrew Martinez, faces up to four years in prison if convicted, according to the District Attorney's Office.
A female passenger, who was in the vehicle, was not charged.
Martinez remains jailed in lieu of $120,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is expected to be set on Aug. 2.
