Marvin Hamlisch Gives Private Performance In 'KCAL Lounge'

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Marvin Hamlisch, Principal Pops Conductor of the "Pasadena POPS," stopped by KCAL9 Tuesday to give us a private performance!

As a composer, Hamlisch has won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards. He is the composer of many motion picture scores, including the Oscar-winning score and song for "The Way We Were" and his adaptation of Scott Joplin's music for "The Sting."

The 15-month-long remake of the Pasadena Symphony and Pasadena Pops reaches its next chapter on July 23, when Hamlisch leads his first concert as principal conductor of the Pops on The Lawn Adjacent to the Rose Bowl.

The program -- entitled, appropriately enough, "Marvin does Marvin" -- will spotlight his legendary career.
