LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The closure of the San Diego (405) Freeway reduced the number of crashes on Los Angeles County Highways by more than half, authorities said Sunday.
CHP Officer Anthony Martin says the California Highway Patrol handled 70 accidents between 10 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Sunday, compared to 160 during the same period the previous week.
“With all of the media coverage, people just chose to stay in,” Martin added. “The less traffic you have, the less probability of having a collision.”
