ANAHEIM (CBS) — One person was killed Sunday when a truck crashed and overturned on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Anaheim, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

The accident on the southbound 5 Freeway at South Street was reported to the CHP at 12:50 a.m., authorities said.

Paramedics rushed the victim to UCLA medical center, where they later died. The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash blocked the carpool and numbers 1 and 2 lanes, according to the CHP.

A SigAlert was issued about 1:12 a.m. citing the ongoing investigation.

  1. Olimpo Orozco says:

the article reads of one victim but later on it says that when paramedics arrived at USC “they later died”

  2. Tom Arnold says:

They say “They” instead of he or she, because the police hasn’t released information about the deceased.

  3. Yo Mama says:

It should say “he”, which can also be used a gender neutral pronoun. “They” implies that there were multiple victims.

Also, I’m pretty sure the victim was taken to UCI Medical Center not UCLA.

there is NO South st exit on the 5 freeway!
