COLTON (CBS/AP) — The mayor of Colton has died in a car crash after suffering a heart attack while driving.

David R. Zamora was on his way home Thursday afternoon from the Civic Center when he suffered the attack and crashed into a pole.

No one else was hurt in the single-car crash, and Zamora was transported to Loma Linda Medical Center where he died around 2 p.m.

City Manager Rod Foster says the city will continue in the spirit of Zamora’s leadership.

Zamora won his first term as mayor in December 2010.

Zamora is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sarah. The couple has three daughters and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
