Actress Sharon Stone To Pay $232K In Negligence Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An actress who became famous for exposing herself on the big screen will now have to pay big bucks for exposing a contractor to injury.

Sharon Stone, best known for her role in the 1986 thriller "Basic Instinct", has been ordered to pay $232,000 dollars to a former speaker installer who was injured while working on the backyard sound system of her Los Angeles-area property in 2006.

Peter Krause fell 12 feet and injured his right knee after a retaining wall failed to break his fall — a failure for which the jury held Stone personally responsible.

KNX 1070's Brian Ping reports attorneys for Krause — who bears no relation to the TV actor of the same name — said the fence was not structurally sound and violated city code.

Stone, 53, had tried unsuccessfully to convince a jury that she had chain-link fencing installed in the area.

The actress plans to consult her attorneys before deciding whether to appeal.
