ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBS)— Anaheim investigators Tuesday were looking for suspects and witnesses to the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man in Julianna Park.
The shooting in the 300 block of North Julianna Street was reported at 10:07 p.m. Monday.
The victim, whose name was not released, reportedly was the innocent victim of a gang rivalry, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.
Authorities said the victim was talking to homeless people in the park when gunfire rang out.
“The shooter was attempting to shoot one of the gang members, who were inside the park, and the victim was the unintended target,” Martinez said.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a trauma center where he was pronounced dead before 11 p.m. Monday.
Detectives were seeking witnesses to get a better description of the shooter.
