Several Roads, Freeways To Be Impacted By 405 Freeway Closure

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Officials are asking residents to prepare for several traffic problems when the 405 Freeway shuts down in five days.

The MTA is hoping 70 percent of cars that normally travel through the Sepulveda Pass will stay off the roads during the 53-hour closure.

However, some drivers say they won't be able to avoid the anticipated congestion.

Officials say canyon roads connecting West Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley could become extremely congested. Beverly Glen, Benedict Canyon, Coldwater Canyon, Laurel Canyon and Cahuenga are expected to be gridlocked.

Similarly, the 110 and 101 freeways will not be good alternative routes, as the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is hosting a soccer match with 100,000 fans. Pacific Coast Highway, Sepulveda and Cloverfield in Santa Monica may be also impacted.

Before you head out this weekend, be sure to check out our 405 Closure Information.
