Ramona Hahn, Matriarch Of LA Political Clan, Dies At 86

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Ramona Hahn, the matriarch of a Los Angeles political family, has died at 86.

Hahn was the wife of the late Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, and the mother of former Mayor James Hahn and City Councilwoman Janice Hahn.

The family has been involved in Democratic politics since the 1940s.

Her death Monday was confirmed by Doane Liu, chief of staff at Janice Hahn's City Hall office.

"We are devastated to announce the death of our mother, Ramona Hahn. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and wife," her children said in a joint statement. "She was without a doubt the driving force behind our entire family. It was through her strength and support that our father, Kenny, became one of the most beloved leaders in Los Angeles' history."
