William, Catherine To Attend Star-Studded Black Tie 'Brits To Watch' Dinner

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It's fitting that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (aka William and Kate) attended a star-studded "Brits to Watch" dinner in downtown Los Angeles Saturday as most of the eyes of the Southland have been on the decidedly-glam couple since their arrival Friday.

The "Brits to Watch" dinner is being held by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) of which William is the president.

The dinner will honor 42 up-and-coming British film, TV and video game talents making names for themselves across the pond.

But the American guest list is what will have celebrity observers here on the edge of the red carpet arrival ceremony.

CBS2's Melissa Maynarich and Serene Branson reported from the red carpet for CBS2 and KCAL9.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed guests include Jennifer Lopez, Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, directors Quentin Tarentino and Judd Apatow. CBS honcho Leslie Moonves is also an invited guest.

As the evening progressed, other surprise A-listers made the scene, among them Oprah Winfrey, Jack Black, Mark Anthony, Rosario Dawson, Zoe Saldana and Orlando Bloom.

The night was organized by super-producer Nigel Lythgoe ("American Idol," "Gladiators,"  "So You Think You Can Dance").

The event is being held at the Belasco Theater.

Profits from the dinner (some seats went for as much as $25,000) will go to support BAFTA's emerging talent program.
