Royals William, Catherine Attend Charity Polo Match
CARPINTERIA (CBS/AP) — Prince William has taken to the field for a polo match on the second day of a royal visit to Southern California.
William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton, drew a crowd to the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club on Saturday to raise millions of dollars for good causes and to celebrate the club's centenary.
The match is something of a recreational diversion for the couple, who otherwise are spending the bulk of their three-day visit promoting British business ties to the U.S. and highlighting charitable work.
Event planner Brian Worley says the Princess Catherine is expected to present the winning team with a stunning trophy made by whom else… Tiffany & Co.!
The couple will return to Los Angeles at night for a black-tie event organized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Barbara Streisand, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Quentin Tarantino, and CBS President Leslie Moonves are among the guests expected to attend the dinner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Prince William is the president of BAFTA and is expected to speak at the event called BAFTA "Brits to Watch."
