PICO RIVERA (CBS) — Sheriff’s detectives Sunday were searching for a suspect in an alleged sexual assault at a park in Pico Rivera.

According to authorities, the victim, identified as a 6-year-old boy, reported the incident about 2:35 p.m. Saturday after a soccer match at Rio Hondo Park.

“He went into the bathroom alone, and was sexually molested by the white man with tattoos on his neck and one arm,” sheriff’s Lt. Robert Smith of the Pico Riviera Station said.

Witnesses told a local television news station that after the incident, the man walked the crying child out to his mother, handed him over and then fled in a white van with a partial license beginning with “6J.”

The suspect was described by witnesses as about 6’2, weighing approximately 200 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a bandanna on his head with a Mexican Flag on it.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-LASD or “Crime Stoppers” at (800) 222-TIPS to remain anonymous.

If you had a child you’d know that at the age of 6 is kind of iffy, whether or not you should take them to the ladies room or men’s room. But aside from that, how about instead of blaming the mother for not walking her little boy into the girl’s room, you blame the psycho that did it! What has our world come to where you can’t let a 6 yr old boy go to the bathroom by himself? It’s insane!!

Years ago a Grandmother waited outside while her little Grandson went alone into the Men’s bathroom at a campground. He never came out. Someone inside stabbed him to death. Now that I am a Grandmother I just make my Grandson come in the Lady’s bathroom with me. I don’t care what people think….I don’t want him alone in ANY public restroom. Poor kid, I hope he gets some counseling and i really hope they find the jerk/criminal soon!
