Ex-Deputy Sentenced In DUI Crash That Injured Woman, 78

SANTA ANA (KNX1070) — A judge Friday sentenced a former Orange County Sheriff's deputy to two years and eight months in prison for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports that Allan Waters' plea deal for 16 months in jail was thrown out after he allegedly showed up drunk during a prior hearing.

"The way the defendant reacted to coming to court on a sentencing date gave the court greater concern for public safety and at that point, he decided not to stick to with 16 month lid offer," Prosecutor Brock Zimmon said.

Waters plead guilty back in April to driving under the influence when he rear-ended a 78-year-old, seriously injuring her.
