LAGUNA BEACH (CBS) — California’s newest state park, Moro Campground at Crystal Cove, is now open just north of Laguna Beach.
The beachside campground, open in time for the 4th Of July holiday weekend, features 60 overnight campsites and 200 parking spaces. It is built on the former site of the El Morro Village trailer park.
“This is 100 percent public property and this is a 100 percent public project. So we have public camping, public day use, new access to our backcountry as well as renewed access to a new stretch of beach,” said Park Superintendent Todd Lewis.
The campgrounds are already sold out for most of the summer.
