Air Show Canceled Due To Scheduled 405 Closure

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The scheduled closure of the 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass has forced the cancellation of a popular air show.

Organizers decided to cancel the American Heroes Air Show at Hansen Dam, which had been scheduled for July 16.

Organizers said that many of the police, sheriff and fire aircraft used in the show were being pulled to help deal with expected traffic tie-ups.

The aircraft were expected to be on standby or flying surveillance to assess the traffic situation.

The 405 Freeway will be shut down from July 16-17 for the demolition of the Mulholland Dr Bridge, as part of a project to widen the freeway.
