BALDWIN HILLS (CBS) — The former Magic Johnson Theater in Baldwin Hills reopened with a whole new look Wednesday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday morning to unveil the $12-million renovation to the now state-of-the-art theater.
Rave Cinemas 15 offers “rave extreme: the big screen experience.” The multiplex features giant wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screens, enhanced sound systems and 3-D digital projection.
“So glad that we have our theater back, The Rave. It is just wonderful,” said moviegoer Ossie Shackelford.
The cinema is part of a $30-million transformation at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The mall’s owner says the project created 800 jobs.
“Well it’s 3-D, first of all and [has] plenty of seats, nice and clean. Oh yes, this is just marvelous,” said patron Rafiqa.
