HESPERIA (CBS) — Police said on Tuesday that a three-year-old boy in Victorville survived a fall from a second-story window with just a few scrapes and bruises.
KNX 1070’s Bob Brill reports what could have been a tragedy turns out to be a safety lesson for parents with young children.
The toddler was reportedly near an open window while laying in a bed with his mother before the accident.
“Since it’s hot, a lot of people have their windows open right now,” said Victorville Police Dept. spokesperson Karen Hunt. “When the child woke up, he leaned against the screen, the screen gave way, and the child fell from the window down to the driveway below.”
The toddler was airlifted to Loma Linda Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Investigators said the fall was strictly an accident.
Parents are being urged to revisit a series of safety tips regarding children as the summer heats up.
