Man In Late 20s Fatally Shot In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Police Sunday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man believed to be in his late 20s.

Authorities responded to a "shots fired" call about 11:35 p.m. in the 100 block of E. 56th Street, according to a news release issued by the Long Beach Police Department.

An initial investigation revealed that the victim had just left a house party when he was involved in a confrontation with a group of men. One of the suspects then pulled out a gun, striking him in the lower body before fleeing, said spokeswoman Nancy Pratt at the Long Beach Police Department.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact authorities at (562) 570-7244.
