Free, Confidential HIV Testing Available At Rose Bowl

PASADENA (CBS) — The Pasadena Department of Health is offering free and confidential HIV testing at the Rose Bowl Sunday.

Testing will be administered from noon to 4 p.m. in Parking Lot B and consists of an inner cheek swab, with results interpreted and released within 20 minutes.

Statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveal that more than one million people are living with HIV in the U.S. and 21 percent of people with HIV are unaware of their infection.

"Early detection and education are the keys to keeping everyone safe from infection," said Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge.

The testing comes on the eve of National HIV Testing Day.
