More Than 90K To Attend Gold Cup Final At Rose Bowl

PASADENA (CBS) — More than 90,000 people are expected to pack a sold-out Rose Bowl Saturday night to watch the USA take on Mexico in the Gold Cup Final.

The 6 p.m. game is expected to increase the population of Pasadena by 61 percent with Mexican fans pouring in from the area and Mexico.

"They always seem to have a little bit more fans than us but we've gotten used to that, you know," USA's Clint Dempsey said. "I think it makes us stronger as a team and prepares us for games in the future when we have to go on the road."

From the bars to the Rose Bowl, preparations have been underway for the biggest game the U.S. soccer team will play all year.

"I'm very excited because it's like a rivalry. Two big teams facing each other on the final is something that I've always wanted to see," Eric Valencia, a Mexico soccer fan, said.

Those lucky enough to get tickets are urged to arrive at least two hours in advance and officials say the parking lot is expected to be opened by noon. Fans taking the Metro will be bused from the stop to the game for free.

Pasadena police don't expect there to be any problems at the game, but have added extra officers just in case.
