ACTON (CBS) — Firefighters Saturday knocked down a five-acre blaze between Palmdale and Acton, a county fire dispatcher said.

The fire broke out about 11:15 a.m. in the area east of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway north of the Pearblossom Highway interchange.

The fire burned light to medium brush along the highway and prompted authorities to shut down Sierra Highway from Angeles Forest to Pearblossom Highway.
