UCLA Student Fires Lowest Round For Amateur In PGA History
(CBS) -- 19-year-old Patrick Cantlay birdied the final two holes at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut to shoot a course-record, 10-under 60.
The 60 is the lowest score ever recorded by an amateur in a PGA event.
Cantlay, who just finished his freshman year at UCLA, is looking to become the first amateur to win a PGA event since 1991, when Phil Mickelson won the Northern Telecom Open.
Cantlay has a 4- stroke lead. Third round TV coverage begins on Saturday at noon on CBS 2.
