Former La Mirada Star Drafted #2 In NBA Draft

(CBS) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have selected Arizona Forward Derrick Williams with the 2nd pick in the NBA Draft.

The 6″8 Williams played his prep basketball at La Mirada High School.

With the first overall pick, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Duke’s Kyrie Irving.

Williams averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Wildcats last year and was named the Pac-10 player of the year.

Despite trade rumors, the Timberwolves have said they are not trading Williams.
