CARSON (CBS) — A longtime employee of the BP refinery in Carson was killed Wednesday morning in an accident at the rail loading facility.

Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the call at 7:51 a.m. Officials said a man in his 50s was working in the loading facility when he became pinned between two objects. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released, but a spokesperson for BP says the company’s focus right now is to take care of the worker’s family.

The accident is under investigation by Cal OSHA.

BP has moved into first place as being the most dangerous refineries to work for or in, bumping EXXONMOBIL off the first place block. Texas City Texas, OSHA set up trailers on the property because they were good for at least one D.O.A. a year since 2005. This might have an impact on the sale of the refinery and other holdings being sold off to pay for the Gulf. I would like a company that treats people with dignity and respect like CHEVRON take that place over and turn it into another money pit and bring a few more jobs to the So. Cal. area.
