Hundreds Of LA Skateboarders Go ‘Wild In The Streets’
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Hundreds took to the streets Tuesday, riding their skateboards from Boyle Heights to Venice Beach as part of “Wild in the Streets.”
The planned event, which was part of Go Skateboarding Day, began about 1 p.m. in Hollenbeck Park. Participants ended at Venice Beach’s Skatepark.
“Tons of skaters… tons of cops… tons of kids riding in the streets, riding on the sidewalk, wherever you look, there’s a skater,” Jonathan, a participant, told KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz.
Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section said citations were issued about 2 p.m. at Lafayette Park near Commonwealth Avenue and Sixth Street in the Westlake district.
No arrests were made.
