Fullerton Man Charged In Alleged Rape Of Craigslist Maid

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A Fullerton man was charged on Tuesday with sexually assaulting a woman he had hired as a housekeeper through a free online ad service.

Michael Delgado, 27, was charged with six felony counts, including two counts of rape, two counts of forced oral copulation, a count of sexual penetration by a foreign object and a count of false imprisonment by violence.

After Delgado contacted the 42-year-old woman through her Craigslist ad, she went to his apartment to clean his home Friday morning, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Delgado, who weighs about 300 pounds, is accused of forcing himself on the victim, who is about 5 feet 3 inches and 120 pounds.

Delgado is accused of raping the woman twice, according to prosecutors.

The woman at some point managed to escape and got help from someone in the apartment complex, prosecutors said.

Delgado, who was being held on $250,000 bail, is set for arraignment on Tuesday.

If he is convicted at trial, he could face up to 40 years in prison.
