Woman, 79, Killed In Beverly Glen House Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — One person was killed and another injured in a house fire in Beverly Glen Saturday, a fire department spokesman said.

The blaze broke out about 3:35 a.m. in a two-story home in the 2100 block of Basil Lane near Beverly Glen Boulevard. It was declared out about 4 a.m., Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Scott said the deceased victim, a 79-year-old woman, was found in an upstairs master bedroom. Paramedics rushed a 50-year-old man to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The home, which is over 50 years old, had no smoke alarms, authorities said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
