Services To Be Held This Week For South Pasadena Officer

AZUSA (AP) — Services are set for a South Pasadena police officer who died this week after collapsing during a training exercise at a firing range.

A vigil will be held Thursday for 23-year-old Kevin Sandoval at the Holy Family Church in South Pasadena.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Irwindale. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina, according to a post Saturday on the City of South Pasadena web page.

Sandoval was training with fellow officers Tuesday the Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa when he collapsed and hit his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sandoval was a 2-year veteran of the tiny, 34-officer police force.

An autopsy was planned to determine the cause of death.
