Murder Charges Filed In Fatal Stabbing Of Santa Margarita Coach

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 28-year-old Lake Forest man was charged Wednesday with murder for the fatal stabbing of another man outside a Lake Forest restaurant early Saturday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced.

Justin Tombleson turned himself in to authorities about 3 p.m. Monday, according to the sheriff’s department.

KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz reports.

Elvis Kechechian, 26, was stabbed to death in a fight outside the Albatross Mexican restaurant, 23591 Rockfield Blvd., just after 2 a.m. Saturday, Orange County sheriff’s officials said. Kechechian was a strength and conditioning coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School.

Another man, who has not been identified, suffered life-threatening wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Tombleson told investigators he had acted in self defense but made no further statement about the fatal confrontation, officials said.

No other suspects are being sought. Investigators were trying to locate two female witnesses, the sergeant said.
