LA County Department Of Animal Care Prepares For ‘The Cat Days Of Summer’

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The month of June marks the beginning of “kitten season,” a time of the year which thousands of newborn kittens will need new homes.

To help place these kittens into forever homes, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) will partner with Found Animals Foundation to adopt out as many cats and kittens as possible.

The DACC will join the City of Los Angeles’ Animal Services, SEAACA, and other Los Angeles based animal care agencies for the “The Cat Days of Summer” adoption event.

The initiative kicks off Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

Be sure to visit one (or a few!) of the seven locations on Saturday, June 18th, 2011:

– Carson Animal Shelter- 216 W. Victoria St., Gardena, 90248

– Baldwin Park Animal Shelter- 4275 N. Elton St., Baldwin Park, 91706

– Lancaster Animal Shelter- 5210 W. Avenue I, Lancaster 93536

– Castaic Animal Shelter- 31044 N. Charlie Canyon Rd., Castaic 91384

– Agoura Animal Shelter- 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, 91301

* Antelope Valley Pet Stop- 42116 4th Street East, Lancaster 93535

*This location only houses dogs immediately available for adoption and are ready to take home the same day.

    It is already kitten season here in Modesto CA and I saw 2 teenage girls try to give away 3 kittens. When they could not they were going to take them to the pound and it is a kill shelter here.

    The just snickered at me when I told them to spay the mom!
