LA County Department Of Animal Care Prepares For 'The Cat Days Of Summer'

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — The month of June marks the beginning of "kitten season," a time of the year which thousands of newborn kittens will need new homes.

To help place these kittens into forever homes, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) will partner with Found Animals Foundation to adopt out as many cats and kittens as possible.

The DACC will join the City of Los Angeles' Animal Services, SEAACA, and other Los Angeles based animal care agencies for the "The Cat Days of Summer" adoption event.

The initiative kicks off Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

Be sure to visit one (or a few!) of the seven locations on Saturday, June 18th, 2011:

* Antelope Valley Pet Stop- 42116 4th Street East, Lancaster 93535

*This location only houses dogs immediately available for adoption and are ready to take home the same day.
