Father Returns Abducted 2-Year-Old Girl To Mother

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles police say a 2-year-old girl they believed was abducted by her father has been found safe.

Authorities say Galen Michael Day brought his daughter, Elizabeth, into the Northeast Area Police Station at 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the child was in good condition and was handed over to her mother.

No arrests were made but the investigation is ongoing, police reported.

The child's mother, Jenna Johnston, told authorities earlier this weekend that Elizabeth Day was expected to be returned to her on May 11, after spending two weeks in Atlanta with her father – who has joint custody, according to the LAPD.

When the child was not returned, Johnston had her attorney draft a new agreed upon return date of June 6, police said.

In an e-mail to Johnston dated June 8, Day allegedly told Johnston that he and Elizabeth would be returning to Los Angeles in two days.

The pair reportedly flew into LAX but did not made contact with Johnston, according to police.
