Mavericks Win NBA Finals In 6 Games

MIAMI (AP) — Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks are NBA champions, and they went through LeBron James for that long-awaited first title. Postgame

Jason Terry scored 27 points, Nowitzki added 21 and the Mavericks topped the Miami Heat 105-95 in Game 6 of the NBA Rinals on Sunday night. The Mavericks won four of the series’ last five games, a turnabout that could not have been sweeter after seeing the Heat celebrate their first title in Dallas after Game 6 of the 2006 Finals.

James scored 21 for Miami, though was largely quiet after the opening minutes. Chris Bosh had 19, Mario Chalmers 18 and Dwyane Wade 17 for the Heat.

When it was over, Mavs owner Mark Cuban ran onto the court to hug coach Rick Carlisle.

And James’ wait for his first NBA title will extend into at least his ninth season.

What will Lebron do next to better his odds of winning an NBA Championship, the Special Olympics?

  • Clayton Bigsby

Dirk earned his ring and he was the real closer tonight. He has had to wait on long time for his ring, longer than other superstars. Congrats Dirk, J-Kidd and Co.

  • Laker Fan

Congratulation to the Dallas Mavericks and the rest of the NBA fans for not letting the Miami Heat win.

  • David Stern

    A lot of bandwagoners here.

  • Everyday Guy

I wonder what was the motivation by his parents to invent the name “Lebron?” By the way, who invented the name “Shaniqua?”

  • JMH

I hope Labron retires without a title ring, just like that pig Charles Barkley!!!! Both have big months, but no team concept to win a title.
