City, Dodgers Dedicate New Dreamfield In East Hollywood

EAST HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A renovated baseball field at the Lemon Grove Recreation Center in East Hollywood was dedicated Saturday.

The renovations include a new outfield windscreen for the outfield fence, new metal dugout roofs and a new scoreboard. They were funded by the city of Los Angeles, the LA84 Foundation and the Dodgers Dream Foundation.

"The Dodger Dreamfield at Lemon Grove Park gives East Hollywood children of all ages a new place to play, learn sportsmanship and have fun outdoors," City Councilman Eric Garcetti said.

Former Dodgers Tommy Davis, Wes Parker, Bobby Castillo and Kenny Landreaux attended the ceremony

The field is the 13th to be built or renovated under the auspices of the Dodgers Dream Foundation, created in 1998 to provide educational, athletic and recreation opportunities for youth in the greater Los Angeles area, with a special emphasis in helping traditionally underserved youth.

In a program begun in 2003, 11 baseball fields have been renovated and two built.

The Dodgers Dream Foundation is funded through private donations and various fundraisers. Team finances are not used.
